Privacy Notice

At Seshion, we take your privacy seriously. This Privacy Notice explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our macOS application ("App") and website at seshion.app ("Website").

1. Information We Collect

1.1 App Data (Stored Locally)

Seshion stores all your time tracking data locally on your device in a SQLite database. This includes:

• Projects and tasks you create
• Time entries and session data
• Tags, notes, and categories
• Your app preferences and settings

This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly choose to sync via iCloud or export to third-party services like Notion.

1.2 iCloud Sync (Optional)

If you enable iCloud sync, your data is stored in your personal iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit framework. We do not have access to this data — it is encrypted and managed entirely by Apple according to their Privacy Policy.

1.3 Account & Payment Information

When you purchase a subscription, we collect:

• Email address (for license management, receipts, and support)
• Country/region (for tax purposes)

Payment processing is handled by Paddle (Paddle.com Market Limited). We do not receive or store your credit card details, bank account information, or other sensitive payment data. Paddle acts as our Merchant of Record and processes payments according to their Privacy Policy.

1.4 Analytics & Usage Data

We use PostHog for analytics to understand how our App and Website are used. This helps us improve our product and fix issues. We collect:

Website Analytics (with your consent)

• Page views and navigation patterns
• Button clicks and form interactions
• Scroll depth and time on page
• Referral source (how you found us)
• Device type, browser, and operating system
• Approximate location (country/region level only)

App Analytics

• Feature usage (which features you use, not the content of your data)
• App crashes and error reports
• Performance metrics
• macOS version and app version

We do not track: The content of your time entries, project names, task descriptions, notes, or any of your personal work data. Analytics data is anonymized and cannot be used to identify your specific work activities.

1.5 Cookies (Website Only)

Our Website uses cookies for the following purposes:

• Essential cookies: Required for the website to function (e.g., language preferences, cookie consent status). These cannot be disabled.
• Analytics cookies: Used by PostHog to collect anonymous usage data. You can opt out of these via our cookie banner.

You can manage your cookie preferences at any time by clicking "Cookie preferences" in the website footer.

1.6 Waitlist

If you join our waitlist, we collect your email address to notify you about Seshion updates and launch information. You can unsubscribe at any time.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide, maintain, and improve the Seshion App and Website
• Process your subscription and manage your license
• Send transactional emails (purchase receipts, subscription updates)
• Respond to your support requests
• Analyze usage patterns to improve our product (anonymized data only)
• Detect and prevent fraud or abuse

3. Third-Party Services

Seshion integrates with the following third-party services:

When you use the Notion export feature, you authorize Seshion to connect to your Notion workspace via the Notion API. We only access the databases you explicitly select and only write time entry data that you choose to export. We do not read or access any other data in your Notion workspace.

4. Data Storage & Security

• Local data: Stored in a SQLite database on your Mac. You have full control over this data.
• Account data: Stored securely by Paddle and PostHog in accordance with their security practices.
• All network communications use HTTPS/TLS encryption
• We do not sell your personal data to third parties
• We follow industry-standard security practices

5. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights under GDPR, CCPA, or similar privacy laws:

• Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
• Rectification: Request correction of inaccurate data
• Erasure: Request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten")
• Portability: Export your data (CSV, XLSX, PDF available in the App)
• Objection: Opt out of analytics tracking
• Withdraw consent: Change your cookie preferences at any time

6. Data Retention

• Local app data: Retained until you delete it. Uninstalling the app does not automatically delete your data.
• Account data: Retained while you have an active subscription and for up to 3 years after cancellation for legal and accounting purposes.
• Analytics data: Retained for up to 2 years, then automatically deleted.
• Waitlist data: Retained until you unsubscribe or request deletion.

7. International Data Transfers

Your data may be processed in countries outside your own. Our service providers (Paddle, PostHog) maintain appropriate safeguards for international data transfers, including Standard Contractual Clauses where required.

8. Children's Privacy

Seshion is not intended for children under 16 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If we become aware that we have collected data from a child under 16, we will take steps to delete it.

9. Changes to This Notice

We may update this Privacy Notice from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by posting the new notice on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. For material changes, we may also send an email notification to active subscribers.
